Class Expectations, Grading Policy, and Contract

 

  1. You are required to bring a pencil, notebook/Binder, folder, HW, and all materials for class. If you arrive unprepared, you will lose 10 points.

 

  1. Your Marking Period grade will be computed as follows:

15% - Class Participation/ Class work

35% - Tests

25% - Quizzes/Assignments

20% - Projects/Activities

5% - Homework

 

  1. It is expected that you keep your notebook updated with the following: Dates, lesson & sections, in-class examples, warm-up problems & homework.

 

  • Homework and quizzes will be checked on a daily basis. If you need to email me, my email address is: [email protected] 

 

  1. Absences: If you are absent it is your responsibility to make up all work missed while you were absent (WITHIN THAT WEEK (7 DAYS) OF YOUR ABSENCE). Everything will be posted on google classroom – YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO ASK FOR ALL MISSED WORK. Please feel free to come in for tutoring after school for any help on Wednesdays 3:05pm – 4:05pm, unless otherwise told.

 

  1. Classroom Behavior/Policies:
  • No Perfume or sprays.
  • Be respectful to everyone.
  • No foul language.
  • No writing on desks, walls, bulletin boards, etcetera.
  • Come prepared to class every day.
  • Pay attention – sleeping is prohibited and rude!!
  • Be on time & follow all school rules.
  • I love questions – ask whenever the need arises – just make sure they are appropriate and tied into what we are currently doing.
  • Try the best that you can everyday – if you are feeling uncomfortable about a concept – see me right away after school – don’t wait till it is too late!
  • Bathroom/Hall Passes – I only give them in cases of emergency – so use it wisely. No student is to be out of the classroom without a pass. One way pass (office for parent pick up or anywhere where you will not be returning to class) or bathroom pass. There will be a log you must fill out before you go to the bathroom. Please do not ask for a pass while I am teaching a new concept or during the 1st or last 10 minutes of class. You will lose 5 PPC points each time you go.
  • Quizzes and tests will be announced ahead of time – even if you are absent the day before you will be expected to take the quiz or test! If you are absent on the day of the test, you will have until the end of the week (or 3 days after due date) to complete the assignment. If you do not complete the assignment within that week (or 3 days after due date), you will receive a zero.
  • I do call home for good and bad reasons – so please give me a good reason not a bad reason! I will be using remind to communicate and post any important announcements so please make sure to set download the app on your phone and wait for me to provide the class code.
  • Let’s all try to make this the best math class ever – I’ll do my part –I just ask that you do yours!!

 

 

  1. Academic integrity is an integral part of the educational process at James J. Ferris High School.

Any students who are engage in academic dishonesty such as cheating, forgery, plagiarism, copying HW will be given a zero for the assignment and you will also receive a disciplinary referral. all other matters of concern can be found in the student code of conduct.
